NO FUCKING SHIT. The HSUS exists to fight for animal advocacy. They do not run local shelters. HSUS operates animal sanctuaries in five states. It does not run local shelters or oversee local animal care and control agencies, but promotes best practice and provides assistance to shelters and sheltering programs. The group’s current major campaigns target five issues: factory farming, animal fighting, the fur trade, puppy mills, and wildlife abuse. How about people educate themselves on these organizations first? The Humane Society does plenty of good, but I’m sure a lot of the money goes to pay the salaries of its employees — which I don’t find surprising at all. How the hell do you think those people get paid? If you want to donate to help homeless animals in shelters, donate to a shelter near you. Totally different organization. Or find an all volunteer non-profit (Pug Rescue of Florida!) where none of the “employees” get paid! All of the money goes back to the dogs.
